What our Support Groups are planning

16th June 2011 - Day of the African Child

Since 1991, the International Day of the African Child has raised awareness of the continuing need for improvement of the education and well being of African children.  Street Child Africa is supporting this day with Make a Cuppa, Make a Difference - tea/coffee morning/afternoons or asking for donations from existing tea/coffee mornings e.g. after church.  It doesn't take much to make a difference, as little as £1.50 pays to feed a street baby for a day in a crèche in Ghana.

21st  September 2011 - Peace One Day

Jeremy Gilley is an actor turned filmmaker, who founded Peace One Day, a non-profit organization in 1999.  In 2001 the member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted the first ever day of global ceasefire and non-violence on 21 September annually - Peace Day.  This is a fantastic day that some of our partners were involved in last year - see our web page.  We are organising a Pledge a Pound campaign and asking church groups to Say a Pray for Peace.

19th November 2011 - Respect not Neglect

19th November is World day for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence Against Children.   On this day we are using the Respect not Neglect campaign developed by students from St Philomena's School in Surrey.   See the Schools pages for further information later this year..
