Annual Golf Day
On a perfect autumn day with a clear blue sky and in blazing sunshine Street Child Africa organized its first golf day on 21st September 2009 at the prestigious Leatherhead Golf Club. The mature course provided a challenging day for even the most accomplished golfer, together with excellent clubhouse facilities. Our guest celebrity sporting patron was John Salako, football legend, ex England and Crystal Palace FC and now a Sky Sports Commentator who is also training under-thirteen's at his old South West London club. John is also a keen golfer with a respectable handicap. The day started at midday with coffee and bacon rolls. Photography was provided by Golf Promotions and sporting memorabilia was provided by Wonderland Memorabilia. Insurance and prizes for a hole in one was provided by the National Hole in One Association. There was a very convivial atmosphere and at the end of the tournament participants were able to sit outside and enjoy the remains of the sunshine before changing for dinner and the prize giving. The winning team was Golf Promotions and the team from Black Cat Printers came second with just one point between them. Nearest the pin was won by Ian Cameron and longest drive by John Giles. Our corporate sponsors on the day were:
- Added Value Brand development and marketing insight, Hampton Wick, Surrey
- Bloomsbury Property Services, London
- Black Cat Printers Chessington
- Menzies Chartered Accountants Kingston-upon-Thames
- Hughes Collett Chartered Accountants East Molesey, Surrey
- Wilsons of Epsom Car Dealers provided the Peugeot 106 as first prize for the Hole in One
- Questmark Video Conferencing Nottingham
- KPMG London
Golf prizes were kindly donated by Cuddington Golf Club, Banstead Golf Club, Hampton Court Palace Golf Club, Thames Ditton Golf Club, the American Golf Shop Sunbury, Calloway Golf Company and Laurent Perrier.
