Carolyn George: Executive Director

 Carolyn George

Carolyn first became involved with the Charity in 2007 and worked as interim Executive Director from early in 2008. She spent many years in client management for Marketing and Communications agencies, eventually co-founding her own company. Subsequently she has worked at director and managing director level as a consultant helping organisations to remain competitive during times of change, initiating marketing strategies and improving organisations' structure through streamlining and development.

Savina Geerinckx: Overseas Programmes Director

 Savina Geerinckx

Savina first came into contact with Street Child Africa through a chance meeting with our Founder Patrick Shanahan in the 1990s. Since then she has undertaken various consultant work for us, most notably in 1999 when she travelled to Africa in search of new partners, many of whom are still working with Street Child Africa today. In addition to heading up the programmes department, Savina will be reviewing our work in Africa and looking towards the future.

Anne Cooper: Fundraising Manager

 Anne Cooper

Anne started her fundraising career with Marie Curie Cancer Care in 1993, then went on to work for Macmillan Cancer Relief and Victim Support.  A keen runner, she has completed both the London and New York Marathons, the Inca Trail and the Sahara Trek. She is currently keen to climb Mt Kilimanjaro for Street Child Africa in 2011.

Cara Cahill: Support Group Co-ordinator

 Cara Cahill

Cara Cahill is a part-time member of staff in the Fundraising Team. Cara looks after our amazing support groups across the UK, as well as helping with the organisation and management of events and community projects. Following more than three years as a volunteer, Cara now works one day a week and volunteers on other days.

Sarah Hutton: Office and Online Communications Manager

Sarah joined Street Child Africa in 2004 as Administrator, and since then her role has developed and she now manages the running of the office and all digitial and online communications.

Alison Gilhespie: Fundraiser

 Alison

Alison joined the team in 2008 after fundraising for Age Concern England and The Suzy Lamplugh Trust. She previously worked on fundraising events such as the London Marathon and parachuting, as well as applications to charitable trusts. She loves fundraising and is keen to share her experience and enthusiasm with the charity.

Jacqui Hegarty: Schools and Community Development Officer

 Jacqui Hegarty

Jacqui spent several years volunteering for Street Child Africa, which culminated in her delivery of our first Schools Conference in Autumn 2006. We were so impressed with her talents that we have formalised the relationship, and Jacqui now works for the charity on a part-time basis, managing the schools and community fundraising activities of the charity.

Hazel Lucas: Finance Officer

 Hazel Lucas

Hazel joined Street Child Africa in 2006 as part-time Finance Officer, having first worked for another local charity, Scope. Prior to having children, she worked for 10 years in the Graphic Design Industry as a Print Buyer/Production Manager and enjoys casting her designer eye over our graphics. She is responsible for overseeing the logging of donations, ensuring that funds are correctly used, through the recently developed Sage Project Management system, making payments to our African Partners and maintaining proper financial records. Hazel is supported by a group of enthusiastic and well-qualified volunteers who play a vital role in maintaining and developing our financial systems and together they provide financial feedback to Street Child Africa Staff and Trustees. In addition, she enthusiastically supports our fundraising activities and is always keen to recruit new runners for the annual 5K Women’s Challenge in Hyde Park.

Ashley Damewood: Programmes Officer

 Ashley

Ashley has a B.A. in Law and Policy from Dickinson College and an MSc in Human Rights from the London School of Economics. She specialises in socio-legal approaches to human rights, legal philosophy, transitional justice, and complex emergencies (with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa). She joined Street Child Africa in 2009 as  the Legal Research and Policy Intern and was appointed Programmes Officer in January 2010.
