Our supporters in Scotland have continued to thrive over the last few years. To contact our volunteers and fundraisers in Scotland, please email scotland@streetchildafrica.org.uk.
Below are some examples of recent activities taking place.
Cake and candy
Kathleen Murphy has started a youth committee in Glasgow, following in the footsteps of her mum, Laura who has led the active and incredibly successful support group in Bothwell. Kathleen and the committee organised a ‘Cake and Candy' stall at their school - St. Aloysius' College - raising over £200. Hooray for Kathleen!

Record donation raised by Halloween discos and dress-down days
West Calder High School raised a fabulous £4,000 to Street Child Africa in 2008 - possibly our biggest single donation from a school in Scotland! Our long-term volunteer, schools liaison and ex-Trustee Eric Creaney was very pleased to accept the donation from the students in October 2008.
St Maurice's High School in Cumbernauld is one of our long-term school supporters in Scotland and have over the past four years raised over £4,300 for our charity. Their latest wonderful fundraising effort took place in the advent period of 2008 and resulted in a donation of £1,000, which our Trustee and Scotland co-ordinator Laura Murphy collected from the school in December 2008. Well done to you all at St Maurice!
Diving the Scotland skies for street children
Our supporter Claire McEntee from Bothwell raised £221.35 recently by doing a sponsored skydive for the benefit of Street Child Africa. Well done, brave Claire!

Mr Jim Hood MP, the local MP for Lanark and Hamilton East where our Bothwell Street Child Support Group is based, is a valued Street Child Africa supporter. Before Christmas 2008 he contacted local schools to advise them about our Singing Together for Kids on the Streets carol-singing campaign. This resulted in more new schools hearing about our work, and one of them, Beckford Primary School in Hamilton, also sent a £120 donation from their non-uniform day fundraising. Thank you, Mr Hood and all staff, pupils and parents of Beckford Primary!
Street Child Africa in Scotland is now formally registered as a Scottish charity, with reg. no. SCO39248.
