Volunteer

VolunteerinofficeIt is not just with donations that you can help Africa's street children. Street Child Africa relies heavily on the help of our volunteers who donate their time, energy, and expertise to us. Can you join their ranks? Would you have a few hours a week to spare?

Volunteers are needed for a plethora of tasks: some are do-able from home, and some are based at our Thames Ditton office.

You could, for example:

  • Help co-ordinate our community fundraising appeals with parishes, schools, and support groups
  • Help generate fundraising or partnership opportunities by researching the internet, and phoning organisations
  • Assist our Office Manager by updating our database (training provided!)
  • Help with filing, photocopying, answering the phones, and other administrative tasks
  • Help with stuffing & sending out our half-yearly newsletter.

Or, if you enjoy talking to people, our fundraising team would love to use your enthusiasm and train you as one of our school and/or parish speakers.

There's plenty to do around here for all levels of experience, so whether you are retired, a school-leaver, or simply looking to learn new skills, we would be happy to hear from you.

If any of our latest voluntary opportunities interest you, please contact our Office and Communications Manager Sarah Hutton on tel. 0208 972 9820 or by email on info@streetchildafrica.org.uk, and she will be happy to tell you more.

We are currently also recruiting for a Fundraising Intern. If you are interested download the job description and email your CV to Sarah Hutton along with a cover letter explaining why you would like the role.

Please note that Street Child Africa does not have resources to send volunteers to Africa. If you are interested in volunteering in Africa, please visit our Links page where you may find organisations which may be able to assist you.
