About Theresa

My name is Theresa Amoah. I am a native Ghanaian from the Ashanti region, from a town called Bekwai. I am married and live with my husband and 4 children.
Her work
I am a teacher and at school we teach them how to write and count, rhymes, colouring and singing.
Because many of the young mothers have to start work very early and may leave home long before school starts, I go round every morning and take the children to school. After school, I also take them back to their parents.
A challenge is that there is lack of respect from people and some of the parents. Sometimes when some of the children fall sick very often it is because they have no proper care.
Sometimes the children will need help washing and cleaning themselves so I help them and change their clothes for them. As a mother and a teacher, when I see that children are around me, I become happy.
I also feel very happy with their ability to learn and do what I teach them. Something that encourages me in my work is the situation of the street children. I feel they need some love and care. So giving them my attention at work will make them feel better.
